I am a global citizen living in greater Melbourne Victoria Australia passionate #humanrights especially #refugee-asylum #humanitarian #policy #ethics; general #consumer rights #leadership #governance #accountability. In practice my primary #Twitter account is dedicated to aspects only of these issues with predominance on #refugee-asylum policy within the #SERegion #BaliProcess and source countries for #refugees seeking asylum. The terms refugees and #asylumseekers are misconstrued. The term #asylumseeker does is not inclued in the RefugeeConvention and the terms however used are not mutually exclusive Related issues of concern are #humanitarian policies with particular focus on #complementaryprotection a neglected arena of #legalprotection and #humanitarian and/or #moralobligation I have publicly expressed my views in a number of arenas and in response to blogs and articles as well as on Twitter mostly as skylark100AU1, previously skylark100 with Tweets and previous Topsy profile retention lost to the archives for the latter. That profile is about my links and opinions but about my personal life. My more recent Topsy profile previously accessible under my skylark100Au1 account is currently inaccessible. This is a summountable annoyance to me but the 140 character limit on #Twitter is disabling and discouraging, especially for those who like to build a story on a longitudinal analysis. I do not use either account as a chat forum similar to Facebook, but always happy to clarify issues. I quite simply refuse to join Facebook. If my style is perceived as librarian tweeting with the primary goal of providing information, links and opinion mostly in that order, and if you are uncomfortable with this approach I will never be offended if you unfollow me. I cannot undertake protracted individual dialogue on Twitter and prefer to use a methodological approach that involves dedicated focused #batchtweeting #themetweeting as it is inefficient to dart aimlessly from one topic to another. Keeping the balance between social acknowledgement and focus on the #advocacy issues at hand is a tricky balance. Twitter policies to restrict following:follower ratios may have a sound logistic basis as it becomes unwieldly and impossible to follow timelines. I have reached my current ratio limits. There are other creative ways of responding to interested parties. I am a hashtag user with a vengeance. I am not associated with any particular political group or goals, but rather willing to devote available time to selected causes. My views are my own and I guard my right to individuality. I do not believe that the end always justifies the means or vice versa. I do believe that approaches in promoting causes matter and that important causes can be irretrievably damaged with the wrong approaches including mindless pre-occupation with anti-establishment methods for the sake of engaging in unnecessary conflict. This often detracts from the central cause in hand. Chaos without order is always unconstructive. I do not support anarchism Having said that I remain deeply concerned about industry #lobbyocracy and its power to influence policies, as well as the often ill-informed policies adopted by politicians either to suit selfish political goals or at best based on poor professional advice blatant bias or simply #misinformation or #misconception. I have a special interest also in #energy #water and #utility policy including #trademeausrement #industry #Marketpower #dominance; #industry #lobbyocracy; and related topics. These are issues that I had hoped to dedicated to my separate account @skylark100AU2 but #Twitter policies requiring separate computer accounts, and logistic problems including time availability preclude this. I do not normally discuss these issues on my primary account @skylark100Au1. Other interests include #civilrights and #consumerpolicy generally. In these contexts I have also in the past engaged in extensive public consultative dialogue. These interests extend to concerns about poor regulatory control, commitment and accountability at every possible level to the disadvantage of all citizens and the disadvantaged in particular. I have extensively participated in public consultation in the past though perceptions of pointlessness on the basis of poor motivation on the part of both policy-makers has zapped my willingness to fruitlessly pursue citizen engagement in that context, yet I remain reluctantly involved to a limited degree. I am not superwomen, I recognize my flaws and have a really long way to go before I can put theory into practice.
