Hi Reader, I’m Dom, and welcome to my blog page—where my opinion is free, but not always right. so with that in mind, i thought it was probably a good idea to introduce myself so you can get a bit of a jist of who i am, well I’m just your average man in the street who’s the wrong side of 40… although at this point it’s less “wrong side” and more “well past the checkpoint”. I’m ex-British Army, which probably explains my ability to function on very little sleep and tolerate nonsense slightly better than most (not always, mind). Since then i’ve held roles working in finance that board me to tears and then as a Surveillance Officer which, i assure you is not always as exciting as it sounds. I did a fair bit of travelling many moons ago, not the Instagram version though. More wrong turns, cheap hostels, and “this seemed like a good idea at the time” moments than anything glamorous. I’ve got two crazy ass daughters, which means I spend most of my time trying to keep up with them whilst simultaneously wondering if I’ve got any form of idea about what I’m actually supposed to be doing as a dad. Saying that, being a dad is pretty cool even though it has a tendency to exposes my weaknesses the quickest. At the minute, I’m trying to write a book. Some days I’m convinced it’s going to be utterly brilliant. Other days I’m pretty sure i have hooves for hands, a thought process of an amoeba and calling anything progress is a stretch. We’ll see which one wins. I’m a Gen Xer, but not the loud type, more the nostalgic kind that truly wishes it was still the 80’s. The kind that quietly get’s on with it while shaking their head at the absurdity of the world. I’ve seen a bit, done a bit, circumnavigated more than a couple of blocks and formed a few opinions along the way — whether they’re right or not is another matter entirely.
